About Us…
Milton Keynes Scouting District (MKSD) is in Buckinghamshire and includes – 23 groups, 7 explorer units and an active Network section.
MKSD covers old and new towns of Milton Keynes including Wolverton and Stony Stratford who are 2 of the oldest groups in the UK, formed in 1908. Newest group was formed in 2021.
Milton Keynes is a growing City and Scouting is growing with the demand.
Each Group covers the age range 6-14 and run a weekly meeting either in their own building or School and community buildings. When a member reaches 14 they can join 1 of 7 Explorer Units, which includes a Young Leader Section, until the age of 18. Network starts at 18 years of age until 25 years. Also at 18 the member can take up an Adult role in Scouting, whether in a group or District Team.
As well as weekly meetings the groups take part in a number of exciting events that involve Scouting Skills and new skills.
MKSD are very fortunate to have a Scout Campsite The Quarries which was gifted to MK Scouts in 1924 by Major Alex Ferguson of Cosgrove Hall. Deeds were signed in 1928 Oswald Hamilton was DC at the time has the main building named after him. It boasts many activities – Rifle Range, Archery Range, Caving System, Climbing wall, as well as 10 campsites, 2 fire circles and 2 fully equipped buildings. Other Resources in MKSD include the MK Scout and Guide Gang Show. With an Annual Stage Performance by the Youth of Scouting and Guiding. The Performance includes Singing, Dancing and Acting.
