Loughton Scout Group took on the challenge this year of organising the Scarecrow Festival. This long standing tradition in the village of Loughton very nearly didn’t happen but scouts saved the day and made it happen.

With a theme of Around The World in 80 Days the residents of Loughton had the opportunity to design a scarecrow and enter this into the trail but also the competition. There was a prize up for grabs for the best scarecrow and this is all voted for by the public.

Starting at All Saints Church there was two trails that you could take. Explorer Trail which would take 2.5 hours or the Beaver Trail which was around an hour.

There was 58 Scarecrows entered into this years trails and the designs were nothing but superb. After completing the trails you was able to unwind with Tea and Cake in the Church.

This is a real community event with The Harvester and The Talbot public houses allowing the participants to use the facilities if needed.

Rozi (Chair for Loughton Scouts) said :- This is a fantastic opportunity for the scouts especially the our young people who are the heart of this community putting on a festival for the community for families in the local area. We have had over 5000 people take part in this years event and its tremendous to see the support given o such a great event. This means so much to our group and all funds raised will be invested back into the group and help to deliver skills for life.
