Jamboree Participants Take On Parks Trust Challenge

Four of our Jamboree Participants have taken on the challenge to do the Parks Trust 25 mile hike. The weather is most definitely not on their side but this will not stop our dedicated young people to achieve their challenge.

Starting in one of our semi-ancient woodlands, Howe Park Wood the 25-mile route guides you through the Tattenhoe Valley, to Furzton Lake and along the Loughton Valley and on to Lodge Lake. You’ll be introduced to the famous concrete cows as you make your way up through the North Loughton Valley and to the edge of Linford Lakes Nature Reserve. Turning south you’ll pass through Linford Manor and join the Grand Union Canal to Willen Lake and onto Campbell Park where you will discover many pieces of artwork and one of the best viewing points in Milton Keynes. The final part of the route follows the River Ouzel, through Ouzel Valley Park concluding at Caldecotte Lake.

Our young people will be attempting to complete this in a day, however, there is the option to complete this over several days.

The design was created by the participants and are now available to buy from them. All money raised from these is helping to send the young people on an adventure of a lifetime.

We took Scouting International to the Marathon

MK Jambo and Kandersteg participants helped alongside other Explorers and MK Scouts at the local MK Marathon. They helped and supported with the runner’s bags making sure they were kept safe and secure whilst the runners were out on the course.

MK Scout District have supported the Marathon for many years now but this time we had a stand where we were able to raise awareness for the international trips that we have in 2019 and also sell some of our fundraising items.

Very tiring day but at the same time was very enjoyable.

Thanks to MK Marathon Team for allowing us to take part.

I Smell Sausages

As part of an ongoing agreement Bunnings in Milton Keynes have been running Sausage Sizzles which gives community groups like us the opportunity to cook sausages for the customers and be able to make some money for our very worthy causes.

MK Jambo and Kandersteg Participants have been delighted to take part in these events and have really enjoyed working with Bunnings to provide other services like litter picking and helping at the till points.

Bunnings Milton Keynes have been very supportive of our Young People and have also been generous enough to offer us raffle prizes for our ad hoc events.

Thank you to Bunnings MK for all your support and we look forward to our future work together.

Our Quiz Night

Our Jamboree and Kandersteg participants and their families organized an awesome quiz evening to help raise money for their international trips in 2019.

The evening started with a quiz and ended with a disco and we also had some yummy chili in the middle which was cooked and prepared by the families of the participants.

The evening was a huge success and helped raise lots of money for the young people to attend their international trips in 2019.

They also held a raffle with some excellent prizes which were all donated from local businesses.

Thank you to all that attended and made the night a roaring success.
