1st Olney have been camping and looks like they had an amazing time. Here is the full story from Euan (Camp Lead)

On Friday 22nd October I took my Scouts plus 4 Cubs to Bromham campsite for the weekend. For the Cubs this was their first camp since COVID whereas for the scouts it was there second camp.On the Saturday I booked the pedals karts as our first activity. This activity was chosen by the scouts so I knew it would be a hit. After pedal karts the scouts/Cubs had a introduction session how to build a shelter that they could sleep is as that night we challenged them to sleep in the shelter that they built it. This a requirement of the scout Outdoor Challenge badge. Throughout the weekend the scouts did lots of whittling which is always a enjoyable activity. After the introduction I booked for the scouts to do Giant Jenga which surprisingly they enjoyed, I wanted one activity to be a bit more chilled out. After this they built their shelters. Throughout the whole weekend the Young people cooked all their food on trangias.

Throughout Lockdown my scouts have cooked on a Trangias a lot and we even used them on our scout camp in July. For the Cubs this was a completely new skill and everyone did really well throughout the weekend. Sunday morning after we took our tents down we did a scouts Own. This is where we all came together and reflect on the camp as a whole. The last activity of camp was the Bouldering wall which everyone found to be very difficult. Only 2 scouts actually completed the wall.

Cubs on Bouldering Wall

It was fabulous to be back camping with the scouts and Cubs. It’s definitely my favourite part of being a leader because you get to really know your Young people during a camp. Bromham is also a Fabulous site.
