We have recently completed our selection weekend for the next World Scout Jamboree 2023 in South Korea. 32 Scouts and Explorer Scouts took part in the weekend.

Starting with a hike on Friday where they had to work in small teams to navigate to the Quarries Scout Campsite from Centre of MK. On Saturday there was a selection of team building activities and challenges including Spiders Web, Blind Obstacle and Escape Room.

Blind Obstacle Course!

We were also lucky to have a taster session of Taekwondo with Star Martial Arts which the Scouts and Explorers loved.

Thank you to Star Martial Arts.

Afternoon was a challenge to build a camp gadget that they could use at Jamboree. There was a mixture of designs from tables to bag carriers. They then had to sell their designs to a panel of judges that are going to invest money into their designs. Judges had some very interesting questions for the groups and they had a difficult decision to make.

Fundraising is a massive part of the Jamboree experience so we decided that we would add in a workshop to share ideas on this.

Just as they thought the challenges were over, we set them a cooking one. They were all given a selection of tins that the labels had been removed from and they needed to make a meal for their team. They all worked hard together and we had stew, curry and even room for dessert.

Sundays activities were site crew tasks including – Clearing Pathways, Gardening, Weeding around the Climbing Tower and Cleaning Campfire Circles. Followed by Climbing and Rifle Shooting.

Great weekend was had by all and we are looking to announce the successful participants within the next few weeks. Here in Bucks we are lucky to have the Bucks European Tour which we also will be selecting for from this weekend.

Thank you you all our volunteers and helpers on this weekend and most of all well done to all the Scouts and Explorers.
