Rhiannon Treviss and Charlotte Bennett have been working extremely hard during the pandemic to make a safe a secure environment for a local Scout Group and making the environment around there hall offer skills for life.

(Taken before the work began)

Keen Scouters themselves they came together with the idea for part of their Scouts Of The World Award Project. This is one of the highest awards you can earn in Scouting and is aimed at the Network age range which is 18-25 years.

There are many criteria to meet the award and the project must tick the box of one or more of these themes, Peace, Environment and Sustainable Development.

With their army of supporters, they got to work and in total spent 16 months creating a wonderful environment for the Scout Group in the heart of Bletchley. Learning new skills themselves along the way like brick laying. They managed to create the following for the group to enjoy, sensory garden, bug house, campfire, herb garden, grass area and a BBQ area.

We caught up with them at the end of the project and this is what they had to say. “We saw the opportunity to make a difference and took on the challenge. Through sun and rain and many hours of hard work we are delighted that we have been able to make a difference. After using the hall for another event locally we both decided that this is the place that we can make the biggest impact. Learning skills along the way has been helpful for us and we are looking forward to catching up with the Young People when they return to Scouts. Thank you to all our friend and supporters that have helped us during this time”

Rhiannon added “I never thought I would be able to brick lay and build a wall, but I did, and I am super proud”

Amanda (Group Lead) said “With herb gardens and bug houses there is hours of fun awaiting our young people and we are so thankful to Rhiannon and Charlotte for their time and effort. Our group are looking forward to cooking with the herbs and singing around our campfire in the coming months”
