Hi,

I would like to update you on some changes in the Young Leaders Scheme within Milton Keynes.

The Young Leaders Scheme is now the responsibility of the Growth & Development team to evolve and deliver, and we will work in concert with Groups, DESC, Explorers Team, and Top Awards Team, to support Scouts moving to, and existing Explorers, who wish to support Groups, earn their Young Leaders Belt Award through becoming Young Leaders.

As the Growth & Development Lead, I will be the accountable Explorer Scout Leader - Young Leader, although the broader Growth & Development Team will evolve to support the Young Leaders Scheme.

We're sending out communications to Young Leader parents over the weekend to get an updated state of play of the OSM section data.

However we appreciate that some of the Young Leaders engaged within Groups may not be recorded on the Young Leader OSM, so we've created a form for Groups to be able to inform us of their Young Leaders, so we can ensure they are recorded, their development is supported.

So please can you or your section leaders complete the form, so we can then follow up to ensure our records are correct.

We're working on making the Young Leader training and mission recording easier to access.

To that end we've worked with Hampshire Scouts to re-use, with their permission, their online Young Leader training within our own online learning platform. This is currently being trialled, and your Young Leaders are welcome to be a part of that trial to ensure it works, and is effective.

This is part of the updated LearningZone for adults and Young Leaders. We'll provide more information on that in the coming weeks.

I will be working with Stuart Bailey and the District Exec to look at the way that the Young Leader scheme works from an end-to-end perspective over the coming months, so if you have any feedback or ideas on how the Young Leader Scheme impacts your Group, positive or negative. please use the feedback box on the form.

We can't fix any problems/issues with the way the Young Leaders Scheme works in MK, if it's not written down, so your feedback is important.
