Milton Keynes Explorers are planning on running a Challenge night hike for the district Scouts on 25/26^th November 2022, this is in replacement of the annual night hike set by the ADC Scouts.

We would love to have at least 1 team from each troop, it would be great to see as many of you there. We are running this as 2 hikes, one for those aged 10 – 12 & another for those aged 12 – 14.The main hike for the older Scouts is about 9 miles long and will have various bases along the way, the shorter one will be about 4 miles utilising some of the same bases. These bases will involve a series of incidents and challenges for the Scouts to complete as they go round. The older group will be staying over & the younger ones will be collected by parents at the end of their hike, we aim for this to be around 22:30

Each team will be accompanied (shadowed) by members of either the Explorer or Network units and we would ask adults & Scout leaders to be positioned at various bases and checkpoints, placed at strategic points throughout the hike. Explorer leaders will be on hand as emergency rescue & sweep team.

As this is a challenge hike, with a trophy at the end, we will not be supplying the route beforehand. However, we can assure you it has been walked & checked numerous times by the Explorer team, Explorers and Network members. We will supply the Risk Assessment nearer the time.

We would like at least 2 adults from each troop taking part or more if you can, (they must have a current DBS) to help man bases, checkpoints, help at the campsite etc. The cost of this event will be £50 per team (£10 per scout), this is to cover the cost of hiring a hall, food, minibus etc.
