Arrival at The Quarries Scout Campsite for 3pm on Saturday. Sleeping indoors, so please only bring essentials (sleeping bag, wash kit and single change of cloths.)

A kit list will be provided to those that sign up and will be checked before departure - those who do not have appropriate equipment will not be able to walk.

Event ends 11am on Sunday morning. All young people should be collected by this time.

A hot dinner and breakfast will be provided. Please bring appropriate snacks for the hike if desired. Energy drinks and excessive amounts of sweets are not appropriate.

Before setting off on their hike, the Scouts will work through a couple of short workshops on map reading and some basic Scouting skills.

The route is around six miles in length. We’d expect it to take around three hours accounting for bases. It will be old school map and grid refs. The use of phones and GPS devices for navigation is not allowed.

There will be some Explorer/Network members tagging along with team who know the route, whilst they will not navigate for the Scouts, they shouldn’t let them go too far wrong.

Bases will be formed around problem solving, teamwork and classic Scouting skills.

A form will be going out shortly to those who have responded already - this will be to collect medical info etc for all participants and must be completed before the event.
