Annual Rotary Club Swimathon

Every year the Rotary Club of Milton Keynes organise a swimathon at Wolverton Swimming Pool.

For over 15 years, 1st Middleton Scout group has made up teams of swimmers to take part in this charity fundraiser, often joined by scouts from other local groups.

This year, MK Scout District has been given an AMAZING OPPORTUNITY to become one of the beneficiaries. This means that money raised can benefit MK Scouting.

We therefore need your help! We need swimmers to take part from across Milton Keynes Scout District so that we can have a fabulous inter group competition. The more swimmers we have, the more money we can raise!

This event is open to Scout age young people and above. 

All proceeds received will be used to fund much needed renovation work on The Lodge at The Quarries campsite. A place that will benefit everyone from across the district 😊

Here is how the event works:

• Teams are made up of 6 swimmers

• 3 swimmers wait at each end of the pool

• We are allocated a 55 minute slot

• When the claxon sounds, a swimmer from one end of the pool swims a length and then tags the swimmer waiting at the other end.

• There are volunteer lane counters turning over a number after each length so that teams can keep an eye on how well they are doing against their fellow teams.

• A sponsorship form is handed out before the event plus a link to a just giving page, so that each team member can ask friends and families to sponsor them on their swim.

• We ask that each swimmer brings their sponsorship form and donations along on the day.

• The date of the event is Saturday 24th February 2023 We have been allocated 10am to 11am (a great way to wake you up on a Saturday). We have use of the whole pool (6 lanes).

• Friends and family can stay and cheer on the teams in the dedicated viewing gallery.

It would be amazing to get 6 teams of swimmers. The event is free of charge and the only requirement is that you can swim at least 25m competently and willing to raise sponsorship money. Sponsorship will be collected via a dedicated JustGiving page or sponsorship form.

How to register your interest

Please complete the Microsoft form on the link box below by the 22nd of December 2023. Teams will then be allocated and notified so that you have plenty of time to raise money before the day.
