Quarries Scout Campsite

Calling all leaders! The District Team will be running a camping show ‘n’ tell day where Milton Keynes leaders can learn, swap and share camping skills with each other!

No experience is necessary but if you’re great at pitching a tent, exceptional at knife and axe work or can rustle up a fire with a bow drill it would be great if you could come along and share your skills with your fellow Scouters!

We’d also like to make the day more social so you can meet fellow Scouters from across the District by having a BBQ for lunch. We’ll supply the fire; you supply the food!

Activities For Bases 

Pitching Tents

From Icelandics, teepees, Force 10s to tunnel tents, this will cover tips and tricks to getting the perfect pitch.

Stoves & Lights

Looking at gas, petrol and electric and the benefits and disadvantage of each.

Camp Gadgets

Some useful camp gadgets that are great for young people to build.

Fire Lighting

Different fire lighting techniques from bow drills to char cloth.

Knife and Axe

Knife and axe safety, sharpening and honing and use.
