Mod 10B - Book Your Space.

Before attending a Module 10B session, you MUST have completed your Module 10A.  This involves completion of the online self-study at this link ( https://hampshire-scouts.thinkific.com/courses/firstresponse ) followed by a Zoom session arranged by County (although members are able to attend other sessions organised by other Scout Counties).  We are currently putting together some evening Zoom sessions prior to the face to face training and details of these will be circulated once they are arranged. 

Module 10B sessions will be approximately 30 minutes in length but may extend to 45 minutes to accommodate people's questions.  Therefore, participants are asked to arrive 5 minutes before their allotted session time to register and to be allocated to a group.  Late arrivals cannot be accommodated and will need either to wait until the next session that day (if there is one with a spare place) or attend a later date.

Each session will cover the following topics:

• Approach to a casualty and primary survey (DR ABC).
• CPR for an adult and child.
• Use of an AED.
• Recovery/Safe-Airway Position.
• Choking.
• Bleeding.
• Any questions that you have from all of your first aid training.

The Primary Survey and CPR must be demonstrated practically by each candidate (although those who are not able to do this may instruct others in doing the skill).

All attendees are still advised to undertake a Lateral Flow Test before attending and you are welcome to wear a mask throughout the session if you still wish to do so.

On completion of this session, you will be provided with a certificate and Compass will be updated to reflect that your Scouts first aid qualification is valid for 3 years.

Face To Face Version Of Zoom. 

The County First Aid Training Team has received several enquiries from Leaders who, for various reasons, are completely unable to join in with the Zoom-based element of the Module 10A first aid training.  To accommodate these Leaders, a face-to-face version of the training that is normally covered by the Zoom session will take place as follows:

Saturday 19 March, 14:00 – Quarries, Milton Keynes

This session will be followed by a practical Module 10B session for those attending and therefore last approximately three hours with a break in between.

Once you have completed this session, along with your prior self-study linked above, you will have completed the whole of the Scout first aid training syllabus.

The same COVID-19 precautions outlined above for the Module 10B sessions apply to these combined 'Zoom' and Module 10B sessions.

KEY POINTS

• Book your session through Claire at County Office (email above)
• Ensure that you have completed Module 10A before attending the 10B session.
• Revise the topics to be covered, especially the Primary Survey (DR ABC) and CPR, which you will be expected to demonstrate.
• Follow the COVID advice re attendance.
• Arrive promptly, 5 minutes before your allotted session.
