On 29th March, Newton Longville Scout Group proudly celebrated an incredible milestone—70 years of Scouting in our village—with a fantastic community event that brought together past and present Scouts, leaders, families, and supporters for a truly memorable day.

Held at Newrton Longville Village Hall, the celebration was a heart-warming mix of nostalgia, fun, and Scouting spirit, showcasing the legacy of the Group and the positive impact it continues to have on generations of young people.

🎈 A Day to Remember

The day was packed with activities for all ages. Guests enjoyed traditional Scouting games, a lively campfire singalong, and even a chance to try their hand at classic outdoor skills like knot-tying and fire-lighting. Indoors, a carefully curated timeline exhibition took visitors on a journey through seven decades of Scouting memories, with old uniforms, group photos, and stories generously shared by former members.

One of the highlights was our special ceremony, where we took a moment to recognise the dedication of our leaders, volunteers, and long-time supporters—without whom the Group wouldn’t be what it is today. A few familiar faces made surprise appearances, sharing touching anecdotes and reminding us all of the friendships and adventures that Scouting has created over the years.

And of course, no birthday would be complete without cake! A beautifully decorated 70th birthday cake was cut and shared, bringing everyone together for a moment of celebration and reflection.

🙌 Thank You!

We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special—from the volunteers who planned and ran the event, to those who lent us old photos and memorabilia, to everyone who simply came along to share in the occasion.

Seeing so many members of our community—young and old—come together to celebrate was a powerful reminder of what Scouting is all about: belonging, learning, and growing together.

🔭 Looking Ahead

While we’re proud to celebrate the past, we’re just as excited about the future. Newton Longville Scout Group continues to grow, offering fun, challenge, and adventure to young people in our village. Here’s to the next 70 years!
