5th Newport Pagnell Scouts held their Annual General Meeting this week and had lots of achievements to celebrate on top of anther wonderful year of scouting.
They were privileged to be joined by Paul Day (Mayor of Newport Pagnell) to present a special award to one of the volunteers. Helen has been a cub leader at the group for over 20 years and during this time has seen many Young People through the movement and provided them with Skills For Life. Helen had been nominated for a Town Award by one of her Cubs who is now an adult and this was a very special moment for her.
Helen said: I am really surprised and had no idea that this was happening, despite knowing the family of the nominator very well. It is a delight to be part of such a great team here at the 5th and receiving this award this evening is just tremendous. As leaders we do this for the enjoyment and the smiles when that cub has learnt a new skill or conquered a fear and to know that this is appreciated by them makes it all worthwhile. Thank you Rosie for nominating me for this award.
The awards just kept coming as they presented to the true stars and thats the Young People. With some really heartfelt comments behind the awards you could tell that each of them were truly deserving of the award. Even an award for one of their Young Leaders who has been connected to the group since she was a Beaver Scout.
Huge well done to all the recipients of the awards and well done to 5th Newport for another year of awesome Scouting.
