On Friday 6th May MK Cub Scouts came together for their first big District Camp in nearly 4 years and the theme of the camp was Wizards.
Over 200 Cubs and Volunteers ascended on the Quarries Scout Campsite for a weekend of fun and adventure. Friday evening started with arrival on buses as a park and ride from Stony Stratford, this helped with the traffic flow in the car park at the campsite.
Once onsite the cubs helped to pitch tents and then came together for Hagrid’s Hot Choc and Snapes Snacks whilst having a sing song around the campfire.
Saturday morning started with a magical breakfast for the school of soon to be wizards and it was soon time to start the activities.
There was so much for the wizards to get involved in, including Wizards Caves, Soft Archery, Wand Making, Wizards Potion, Lanterns, Magical Creatures Fire Lighting and Radio. Plus, lots more
Saturday evening was time to get the dancing shoes on as Bucks Scout Radio provided the disco with smoke machines and lights there was no other option than to dance. This was followed by a campfire where Wizard DC managed to put a spell on the fire and turn it blue.
We spoke to Claire Harris (Lead Volunteer) at the end of the camp – It is just wonderful to see the Cub section back together for a weekend of everything wizard. I have been so overwhelmed by the smiles and laughter I have witnessed as I have been travelling around the site. I would like to say a massive thank you to the whole team that helped to make the magic happen. All the volunteers that supported me along the way and throughout the planning. I am so excited for the next big district event in the not-too-distant future. Also, a huge shoutout to the site crew at the campsite and the catering team you guys’ rock. Lastly thank you to the cubs for making me smile and enjoying the weekend, you are all a credit to your groups.
