Have you heard that the Squirrels of Wolverton have built a new drey in the Scout Hut, and they are all having such great fun and adventure!
Thursday marked a special occasion for 1st Wolverton and Milton Keynes Scouts as they invested 10 Squirrels into the group to form the first drey in Milton Keynes.
For those that don’t know – Squirrels is a brand-new section of the Scout Association for boys and girls aged between 4-6yrs.
Gary Staff (Acting Group Scout Leader) said:
“1st Wolverton Scout Group is one of the oldest in the UK, over 100 years old and we are pleased that we can offer this new section to the community of Wolverton and Milton Keynes.
We are the first Squirrel Section in Milton Keynes. We are also proud to be the first beaver section and of course cub and scout section in Milton Keynes”
Mayor of Wolverton Adrian Moss and Mayoress Christine and Doreen Allen President of The Lions Club Stony Stratford who have supported the group with funding were also in attendance on the night.
We are also delighted to welcome our fantastic team of volunteers that have stepped forward to help run the section. As you will see they were invested too by Stuart Bailey (District Commissioner)
The group have really pulled together to make this happen and volunteers from Beavers and Cubs have offered their help and experience to the new volunteers. Lots of support and effort around with a great team approach.
Also being invested on the night was Kieran who has agreed to take on the role as Group Scout Leader. Welcome Kieran and what an exciting time to be joining the group.
