1st Crownhill Beavers have celebrated Shrove Tuesday in style with their very own Pancake Race. Inspired by a very traditional event that happens in Olney every year the Beavers had a great time and enjoyed every minute.

We spoke to Dawn (Beaver Volunteer) and this is what she told us:-

“Evening started with talking about the pancake race in Olney and watched a video then we. had a pancake flipping relay. This was very exciting and the Beavers were very competitive and full of good support for each other.

Then it was time for the real competition “The Race” where they had to use teamwork to cross the hall stepping only on “pancakes”

To finish off they had to waft a paper pancake across the hall. We turned it into an experiment to see what worked best: a necker, a flannel, an envelope or a rubber mat. The envelope was the clear winner”

Also joining in with all the fun was 3 new Beaver Scouts and at the end of the evening one was asked by his Dad if he had fun he said no! “I had lots and lots and lots of fun”!
