1st Middleton, Broughton, Loughton and Oxley Park had a great time this summer as they went to Brecon Beacons for a week long camp. Staying at Acorn Adventure in the heart of the Brecon Hills.

Weather was tremendous and made the week all the more enjoyable. Lots of the Scouts purposely spent more time in the water to cool off. Staying in the luxury camp pods onsite the scouts got the opportunity to meet other Scouts from other troops throughout the week.

Activities included, Giant Paddle Boarding, Canoeing, Kayaking, and Raft Building. Plus the dry land activities, Rifle Shooting, Tomahawk Throwing, Climbing plus lots lots more.

During the week they all managed to walk up Allt yr Esgair which is a staggering 240m up,  which doesn’t seem a lot but in 30 degrees heat this was no easy challenge. When they reached the top this was well worth the climb as the views were stunning. “Looking out over the vast unspoilt green space was truly breath taking” said: Sam (Volunteer).

Chris (Volunteer) said: This trip has bee truly amazing. We had to reschedule to come here after taking the difficult decision to cancel our Dordogne trip that we booked pre COVID 19 but I can honestly say this was the best alternative, and I am pleased that we have been able to do this. The Scouts have had a great time and the smiles say it all. I always say if they come home tired then they have had a great trip and I know one thing there was some very tired faces when we arrived back.
