Youth Team Update!

April has been a Quieter month for Me as DDYC, however I did do 1 visit to 5th Newport Pagnell Cubs to award 2 Silver Awards. This is without doubt one of best things about being a youth commissioner.

Young Leader Training is continuing to be a success with lots of more training opportunities coming up throughout the year. If you would like me to visit your section to award top awards or run a Youshape based session then please email me at [email protected].

Yours in Scouting

Euan Jenkins-Purvis DDYC

Our Jamboree and Grand Tour participants have been really busy and have now got their first two fundraising events under their belts.

St Georges Day and MK Marathon seemed to be a popular place to hold a tuck shop and a bake sale. Both events have helped raise a good amount for our participants.

They would like to thank everyone that has donated so far and please continue to support them as the embark on this life changing adventure.

Thank you

Scouts bounce back with biggest growth for 80 years!
We continue to bounce back and recover from the pandemic, as reflected in today’s membership figures with over 420,000 young people taking part in Scouts across the UK. Today we announce that over 420,000 young people are taking part in Scouts across the UK and British Scouting overseas –our biggest youth membership growth for 80 years. This 16% growth in membership is our largest growth since World War Two. Last year, despite everyone’s efforts in very challenging circumstances, a number of young people decided to step back from Scouts. Our youth membership figures dipped to 360,000 young people taking part in 2021.

Volunteering’s not just about giving back – it goes both ways. It improves your wellbeing, gives you skills for the future, and helps you make new friends (and memories). Volunteers make a huge difference to young people's lives – giving them skills for life, while learning a whole lot about themselves along the way. But don’t just take our word for it – take theirs. Here’s what Beryl Moss, who’s been volunteering with Scouts for 40 years, has to say.
