Youth Team Update!
Youth Team Update!
Been a busy few months for me as DDYC, It started at 5th Newport Pagnell where I was invited along to award their Chief Sixers there Silver Award. This is without doubt the most enjoyable part of my role. You shape award update: I was then invited to the Saints joint end of term Cubs and Scouts as one of their scouts Kasper has become the first Young Person in the whole of MK district to be awarded there you shape Award. It was absolute privilege to be invited along for a session based on using cold meats, fruit and vegetables to make some scrummy to eat. I was really impressed by all the teamwork and hard work between the cub and scouts and picking a winning team was hard, but I choose the team who designed our countries flag out of fruit and vegetables. Then at the end of the session I had the absolute privilege to award Kasper with his you shape award. It is fantastic that we have 1 person who has completed it and the remaining members of Saints cubs and Scouts are closing in on there You shape award. Commissioners Commendation award: My month ended at 1st Olney Beavers where I was asked by the DC to award Lucas Oubridge-Lyons their young Leader with a commissioner’s commendation award for going above and behind in his role as YL At the recent District Beaver Camp. Lucas you did an incredible job at camp not only supporting the 1st Olney Beavers and their Leaders but also helping the district catering team throughout the weekend. You are without doubt incredible Young Leader and can be a huge example to all Young Leaders in the district. So, a Massive thank you to you from the district team and 1st Olney Beavers. Goodbye from me as DDYC: What a month July has been for me as DDYC lots of time spent seeing Young People and Young Leaders to incredible things in scouting however I have taken the difficult decision to resign at DDYC and my last day in post is 30th July. I have absolutely loved my time as DDYC I have learnt to much and gained to many new scouting skills. I have loved visiting lots of people across the district and I will miss being part of the district team. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone in the district team for their support. I am staying in scouting and will be coming GSL of 1st Olney in the not-so-distant future. From me as DDYC it is time to say thank you and goodbye for now. I hope to return to the district team in a different capacity in the future. I will be back. Euan Jenkins -Purvis- Deputy District Youth Commissioner – 5th March 2021 – 30th July 2022.

Quarries Update! (Important)

Please note that due to the very dry weather we have had to introduce a fire ban on all open fires and BBQs at the campsite at present. The red flag is up and signs are placed around the campsite to remind you of the ban.  We ask that all campers and visitors until further notice use other means of cooking, are off the ground and supervised at all times.  No campfires are possible and are out of bounds until further notice (or possibly after a month of heavy rain)   The pictures attached are of site 1 and 10 - its not a pretty sight at the moment.

Rosie Wiorrall is contacting those who have campfire circles booked to inform them of this and this also includes any campers.

After much debate about car parking and with the agreement of the District Executive all AGMs that are booked at the Quarries are now site exclusive and a charge of £50 will be made.  There is a link on OSM for this.

We know that all groups have fun at the site at the end of term and lots of water is used either for water bombs (balloons) or giant water pistols.   Please note that the site will not permit water bombs (balloons) going forward and this will appear on our booking conditions.   Whilst most if not all water bombs (balloons) are biodegradable and users try to pick them up, bits of plastic are still left on the taps and on the ground.

If anyone books pioneering and they have no site booked - site 4 will be booked for you or an alternative one if this is in use.

We ask that you talk to Rosie Worrall our booking administrator if you wish to use the site for large numbers.  We need to think of other users, neighbours and the car park.  Whilst we know the bookings system will take yours and other bookings the car park cannot.  We want to make your booking stress free and the site crew are there to help you if they can.

We have worked with a lot of groups now for their visits over the recent year and if we can help you plan yours please do come to the site to talk to us on a Saturday which is crew day.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Pat Pankhurst - Manager - The Quarries Scout Active Support Unit - [email protected].
