Youth Commissioners Update!

October saw the launch of the new You Shape award, for all four sections in Scouting. The aim of the award is to encourage our young people to plan their programmes, voice their opinions and take the lead in activities. Well done to all the sections that have started thinking about the award already and using it in your programmes.

More information on the award can be found here:

https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteers/running-your-section/youth-shaped/youshape-award/

Over the next term and taking us up to Easter, myself and Euan will be looking to visit groups and run You Shape sessions with your young people. We want to bring back Patrol Leader meetings and support our new DESC in leading a Young Leaders Training Programme.

We will continue to run our monthly Top Award Sessions for Explorers and Network too, hoping to get some awards presented in the next year. Well done to Charlotte and Rhiannon that recently completed their Scouts of the World Award, the only award specifically designed for the Network Section.

Charlotte Spalding – District Youth Commissioner.

Euan Purvis – Deputy District Youth Commissioner.
